 Shawn and Miranda started Silva Services in 2019 with a vision to build a family business much like the one Shawn grew up in with his father and brothers. The Silva family has had a love and a deep passion for the landscape and construction industry for almost 30 years - always putting their customers first and being deeply involved in the community. Silva Services is a young venture in Maine, but the experience and passion is rooted deep in the DNA of the family.

Shawn is a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, coming ashore from his position as a Chief Engineer in 2023 - taking on growing Silva Services full time. Miranda is a native to the Belgrade Lakes/Greater Waterville area and a graduate of Thomas College. Their two children Dextin, and Danika already love working with their dad, effectively starting their indoctrination into the family business - running the equipment and getting their hands dirty every chance they get.

 Jamie joined us midseason in 2024 and quickly became an integral part of our team. While new to professional landscaping, his extensive background in construction has given him a strong foundation, and he’s proven to be a quick study. With a great attitude, a strong work ethic, and a constant eagerness to learn, Jamie continues to grow and excel. We’re excited to see his skills and expertise evolve even further! 

 Alex joined our team at the start of the season in May and quickly proved himself to be a fast learner. Despite having no prior experience in the construction industry, his strength and determination earned him the nickname 'The Muscle.' He spent the summer working hard and gaining valuable hands-on experience before heading back to UMaine Farmington for his sophomore year. We look forward to seeing where his future takes him! 

 Rick, affectionately called Big Rick, is Shawn’s dad and the driving force behind Shawn’s love for the landscape industry. In 1995 he founded Rick's Landscaping based out of Attleboro Massachusetts. The three Silva boys were ingrained in the business from their earliest days. With 30 years of experience in every facet of landscaping Rick is the newest addition to the Silva Services team. Rick closed the doors to Rick's Landscaping at the beginning of this year, closing one chapter all while writing a new one - moving to Maine to work alongside his son and grandkids sharing his experience and wisdom about our industry.  If you see him on site he’s incredibly personable and knowledgeable and will take the time to explain anything you may have questions about (Be careful he’s a talker and will chew your ear off about anything!).
